Plantar Fasciitis and You

There are many things you can do to help relieve your heel pain. We recommend calf stretching for 3-4 minutes 4 times a day. Particularly right when you get out of bed in the morning or before standing up from your desk at work. Avoid going barefoot and support your feet the best you can.

There are many types of supportive athletic shoes, stylish shoes and slippers you can purchase. A few of the recommended brands include; Vionic, Brooks, Hoka, Birkenstock and many others. Icing is another method that can relieve the pain. A quick easy method is freezing a 12-16 oz water bottle, then rolling your feet on top of the bottle for 20 minutes a day. Another home treatment is taping your heel.

We will walk you through on exactly how tape your feet right here in the office. There are some more advanced treatments that are offered here at our clinic. We offer special braces used during the day specifically designed for Plantar Fasciitis. The single most effective treatment for PF are Prescription Orthotics .

They are custom molded orthotics made by a physician that go into your shoes that are specifically designed for your particular feet based on a 3-D scan done here at our office. This treatment is typically covered by insurance.
